Culture of Care in a School of Nursing: Faculty Embark on a Quality Improvement Plan

Join us for a discussion of developing a continuous quality improvement plan to cultivate a culture of care within a school of nursing. The authors implemented the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) model and conducted a faculty self-assessment of caring behaviors and caring relationships which informed the design of a caring science workshop using Watson’s Caritas Processes to introduce caring micro-practices. Qualitative interviews with faculty after the workshop generated two themes: self-awareness of self-care and caring pedagogy.
